Our Story
Once upon a time, a naturopathic doctor from Canada came to Hong Kong. After building his own private practice in Edmonton, Alberta, he was disappointed by the lackluster selection and quality of health products in Hong Kong. So, in March 2010 he started a small health food store called Redwood Health. The first store was in the wee corner of what was then a small local community called Kennedy Town, which was a far cry from the bustling gentrified haven it is now.
Through the ups and downs of business in Hong Kong, a decade later, the company has become a staple in the community; a pillar of education, awareness and support for healthy lifestyles of all shapes and sizes. He hopes Redwood continues to be an integral part of the Hong Kong community, helping reach out to many people’s lifestyles and providing people with access to the best of natural medicine.
Why the name Redwood?
“I was always fascinated with trees as a child. It reminds me of camping with my father in Canada. Redwood trees are a symbol of strength, durability, and longevity - characteristics that we all strive for in health & wellness. We all want to be stronger and live longer, and at Redwood we want to empower you to do just that!”
- Dr Ken Chu, founder and owner of Redwood Health
Our Logo
At Redwood, our logo symbolizes our mission and approach to health. The cube of the redwood tree is a symbol of nurturing strength, durability, and longevity, naturally. Meanwhile, the growth rings visible on the cube resemble a fingerprint. This represents our personalized approach to health - one that recognizes and values every individual’s health journey as unique.
Commitment to Environmental Responsibility
At Redwood Health, we care about our world and the environment. Sustainable and responsible use of the Earth’s resources is essential to the survival and balance of the world’s ecosystems. Many health products that we consume on a regular basis cause environmental strain that we may not be aware of.
As a member of our community, both locally and globally, it is our responsibility as a company to bring these ingredients to the forefront and be assured knowing that the products we carry won’t burden our environment. That’s why we maintain a commitment to not carry products with the following common ingredients:*
